FAQ'S & POLICIES

1) How do I know which program is right for me?
If it's not clear from reading the online descriptions then give us a call and we can discuss it on the phone. We can set up a free consultation for you to come in to the studio and talk in person to one of our instructors, and they will be able to help you figure out which way to go.
2) Can I come and observe a session?
You are welcome to come and see our studio and meet the instructors (best way to do this is to set up a consultation) but we have a PARTICIPANT ONLY policy during the lab sessions. The main reason we limit the labs to students only, is that it is very important to us that our students and teachers are comfortable and at ease during the sessions. People who are not enrolled can be a distraction and can make students feel more self-conscious when they are playing and trying new things. We appreciate people respecting that by not coming in and watching during the sessions. We ask that students do no invite guests to their classes. If you have a friend or family member who is taking a lab, you can come and see their final performance at the end of each quarter! You will be amazed by how good they sound!
3) Can I try a session before I commit?
Usually the answer to this question in 'no'. Obviously for our Professional Music programs this is not possible. You commit to us, and we commit to you. But if you're considering one of the other programs, please email us and we will answer on a case by case basis depending on availability and timing.
4) Do you offer private lessons?
Not any more. If you are enrolled in one of our programs and want to supplement or do make up lessons for missed sessions, talk to your instructor about their availability for tutorials ($35 / 30 mins) but this is available only to students enrolled in our programs and not on a regular basis.
5). What happens if I miss a session of my course? Just like any class, if you miss a session you can get any notes you missed and your instructors will do their best to help you keep up. It is normal for students to miss sessions - stuff happens. But if you think you will miss quite a few, you might want to re-consider your timing. In most of our programs you are a part of a band, so by missing a lot of sessions your whole band is effected. You can talk to your instructor about their availability for supplementary tutorials ($35 / 30 minutes) but this is not guaranteed. There are no refunds or credits on our programs after the enrollment deadline.
6). What happens if I enroll in a course, and I have to drop out for some reason?
For our Professional Music Programs there are no refunds or credits after the enrollment deadline. Pleae read your enrollment contract carefully, and ask all your questions / express any concerns before you commit. So far this has never happened so you should be fine! You're going to LOVE it!
With our other programs, for a refund or credit you must notify us 72 hours PRIOR TO THE FIRST session of your program. A $10 processing fee will apply. This allows us time to make arrangements for other students to take your place.
If you drop out AFTER this point, whatever the reason, there will be no refunds OR credits.
7) Do I need my own guitar for your programs? Yes you do! You need to own or borrow a guitar at least for the length of your lab, since you will not get very far if you can't practice during the week. You don't need a fancy guitar, just something that's comfortable for you and not broken!
8) Do I need to bring anything other than my guitar for your programs? What about amps and effects?
Our studio is customized so that we have everything you need. Just make sure you have a guitar strap with you (you can buy one here if you don't have one). You don't need any of your extra gear.
9) MMA sounds great. What do I do now?
Once you've figured out which program is for you, enroll or apply early to secure your place. At any time you can call us (805 542-9528) or email us with any questions. You can enroll online for some of our programs (those with open enrollment - no audition or invitation required) but others you will need to do that by mail or in person. Make sure you download the appropriate registration / admissions paperwork. Go to the 'ENROLLMENT INFO' tab above the top of this page.
10) How can I stay in the loop and get all your news?
Sign up for our e-newsletter, become a Facebook friend, follow us on Twitter - and check back here often! You can view the calendar and schedule online at any time.
11) I want to see more photos! Become a Facebook friend!
12) I don't see your Beginners Lab? Do you offer programs for complete Beginners?
We no longer offer programs for Beginners. We do have a Learners Lab which prepares people with a strong foundation (if they need it) before joining our House of Bands programs, but this is not designed for complete Beginners. We recommend you kick start your playing with a local guitar instructor, a great friend who can play or online at YouTube.com! Then come to MMA when you're ready to take it to the next level.
13) Do you offer programs for Kids?
We do not offer programs for kids anymore. We found that we needed to focus on the older students and more serious musicians. When your son or daughter reaches the age of 12, we've got the programs for them! We recommend you use our programs as an incentive to keep them practicing and learning in their private lessons. When they turn 12 they can join a band at MMA!
If we didn't answer your question here - please don't hesitate to shoot us an email or call 805 542-9528.
