At MMA our staple programs are our Professional Music programs that run for a full 30 weeks, and our House of Bands programs that run three times each year. We also offer the foundational Learners Lab to prepare for HOB. But sometimes we offer other labs and clinics, so watch this space.

HOUSE OF BANDS SELECT

The MMA team works on forming 'super bands' which they develop, record and promote. So let's say we have a star-quality singer-songwriter, we would scout musicians from the House of Bands programs to form a band around them. Since the standard of bands is so high in 'House of Bands' - we make some great musicians! - students either have to be exceptional to be invited into Select, or just a perfect fit for the band we have a gap in.

If a student stands out in our House of Bands programs, then they may be invited to join 'House of Bands Select" with Producer Darren Clarke. They would be presented the idea of playing in a specific band with specific people. If they want to do that, they would enroll in an ongoing month-to-month program where they rehearse and write music, arrange their songs and record, 90 minutes a week. Each session we are working with up to three bands. If we do not have the right musician in our programs, we organize and host auditions to recruit musicians that fit the bill and want to be a part of the program. Band members are working on their Demo CD's and working toward a final showcase at the end of the year with our Professional Music graduates. Band members need to be motivated and prepared to work hard, and will be asked from time to time to perform at MMA events and shows that the team line up for them.

If I am "scouted" from House of Bands into Select, can I bring my band-mate with me?

They would have to be invited. You have to remember we are looking for specific qualitys in each band member in order to create bands with the most impact and potential as possible. So we are very picky! If they are not in the HOB program then we'd set up a designated audition for them. Remember we may already have someone in place in the band you're joining.

What if I want to stay in the Band I'm in already in House of Bands?

No problem! You always have a choice. We expect there to be some amazing bands in the regular HOB as well as Select, and anyone can book additional Studio time if they want to record.
